Magical Gardens - Garden Art and Art Gardens in Morocco

by Hollow Ska

Art & Communication series at the Künstlerhaus Meinersen Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. Hauptstr. 2, 38536 Meinersen

Having finally enjoyed a proper winter this year, we are all the more excited for the approaching spring and would like to kick off the season in style – with a very special slideshow presentation by Arpke-based journalist and author Hollow Skai, who will transport us to the fascinating world of Moroccan gardens. Morocco boasts numerous gardens that are considered true oases of tranquility – shielded from the hustle and bustle of the outside world, the noise of motorcycles, and the urban commotion.

The gardens in the kasbahs and riads are true masterpieces of garden design, always adhering to the classical patterns prescribed in the Quran. One of the most impressive garden works, however, is Anima, created by the Austrian artist André Heller at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Amidst the stark landscape, he has integrated artworks by great masters such as Keith Haring, Pablo Picasso, and Abderrahim Hamza in such a way that art and nature form a harmonious symbiosis.

What happens when bodies, materials, and identities merge, dissolve, and mimic one another? Laura Gaiser invites you to immerse yourself with her in a world where fluid transitions between human and animal, dream and reality, pleasure and trauma are explored. In her exhibition “Mimicry,” Gaiser transforms Künstlerhaus Meinersen into a space of in-betweenness—a place where the boundaries between different worlds dissolve.

Artist Statement

My recent and future research focuses on the study of digital media theory, social and cultural aspects and related artistic practice. In my current research, the topic of digital images and their materiality plays a crucial role. As a form of internal integration, digital images form a unified entity in empiricism and encompass all elements of spectacular cultural society.
